A Vehicle for Physical Education
Physical educators will find that the Trikke 3-wheelers provide fun and satisfying challenges for students of all skill levels, while enhancing overall health and well-being by utilizing all the major muscle groups and developing cardiovascular fitness in a low-impact and mentally engaging manner. Coordination, balance and agility are also developed as students learn the importance of turning, leaning and transferring weight at just the right time to create the forward momentum. As well, each student will learn confidence as they master this completely new and fun method of propulsion that can be enjoyed for the rest of their life, all the while enhancing their muscle strength, muscle endurance, compressibility fitness, and overall well-being.
Engaging Students Through Fun Activity
If you have fun on your side, the battle's already half over. If you don't, it's going to be tough going for a lot of students. The most common result from riding a Trikke 3CV is fun, that's why many have come to call the Trikke 3CV The Ultimate Fun Fitness Machine. Students will be getting a thrill from carving a series of deep turns or mastering a new maneuver, all the while getting a phenomenal full-body, cardiorespiratory workout.
While the Trikke 3-wheelers can be used in a more competitive format, we have found that in the early stages, it is best for the encouragement of all students, if they are only competing with themselves, so as not to alienate students of lesser natural athletic ability. In this way, all kids can experience an activity that promotes their physical and emotional health and fitness for life.
School Demo Tour
The Clark County School District was recently awarded a Carol M White PEP grant. Our district's physical educators were able to see how easily Trikkes could be implemented into their programs when Trikke Tech, Inc. presented at our annual physical education conference last year. When our district was awarded the grant, our district immediately purchased Trikkes for five of our middle schools. Our teachers received excellent training from Fred Welch at Trikke Tech Inc. Since the training the students have had a blast using this amazing and fun piece of equipment. Students are getting a great workout and are able to try something new in their PE classes. Trikkes have been a huge hit with both the teachers and students! We hope to purchase more Trikkes soon! Hayden Ross, Secondary Physical Education Facilitator - Clark County School District (Nevada)
The Kalama Intermediate School Experience
Leighton Nakamoto, a PE Teacher at Kalama Intermediate School went out on a limb in early 2006 and began implementing Trikke 3CVs into his PE classes. His results were wildly successful and his students are much better off because of it.
TESTIMONIAL
Thanks to a grant, "the scooter-like apparatus brings a wow factor to a PE program, and provides a challenging workout for students, in a unique and different fashion," says WINNEBAGO HIGH SCHOOL.
But wait, that's not all. The wise elders at Winnegago also state: "The Trikkes help students to work on balance, eye hand coordination and provide a full-body work out, thus enhancing overall health and well-being."

Can you really rehab your body while having this much fun?
Why Trikke carving vehicles are the ultimate ‘stand-alone’ rehabilitation tool
A stable platform, a better rehab experience and a fun, no–impact way to reconditioned your body, virtually from head to toe. That’s what Trikke carving vehicles offer. Here’s how:
Riding a Trikke can be beneficial to patients with a variety
of physical conditions, including:
Arthritis, including osteoarthritis and degenerative arthritis of the hips, knees and lower extremities, and upper extremity arthritic conditions,
Chronic back pain,
Dysfunctional knee disorders,
Shoulder rotator cuff abnormalities,
Orthopaedic musculoskeletal conditions, such as long-bone fractures, sprain–strains,
Neuromuscular re–education after prolonged immobilization or surgery,
Patients that are deconditioned.
Riding a Trikke is a great form of no–impact exercise
that conditions your entire body. Here’s why:
Ergonomically designed for controlled core,
Excellent for torso, upper, and lower-body strengthening and conditioning,
Provides trationing and causes physiologic movement of thoracic and lumbar spine,
Great for hip flexor strengthening and capsular stretching,
Low–to–no impact musculoskeletal conditioning and neuromuscular re–education.

"I hate exercise. I really hate it," said Mehlmauer. "I’ve tried everything from rowing machines to stationary bikes to elliptical machines. The Trikke is truly a miracle machine." Larry Mehlmauer
Riding a Trikke is steady, stable and oh, so fun!
Standing on a Trikke carving vehicle means standing on your own two feet. On top of that, the Trikke provides a stable, 3-point stance that comfortably allows for gains while improving proprioceptive balance and coordination. As such, a Trikke cv offers much more stability, compared to a traditional two–wheeled bicycle, and a better rehab experience than a stationary or recumbent bicycle.
And perhaps best of all, riding a Trikke cv gives you a freedom of movement that never feels repetitive or boring. It’s the opposite of repetitive reps inside an artificially–lit rehab room. It’s just you, the great outdoors and a carving vehicle that makes you feel like a kid again.
“Although Trikke CVs have been used many times for various kinds of rehabilitation, Trikke recommends that you check with your doctor before choosing Trikke for any medical purposes.”
I just wanted to write and say how much I love my Trikke 8.
I am a 49 year old insulin dependent diabetic. I ride my Trikke on the average of an hour and a half every day. I find it to be an incredibly good way to exercise that helps me to control my blood sugar, plus being extremely fun and invigorating in the process.
While riding, I have about 15 to 20 people on a daily average, stop and talk to me about it, wanting to know where they can purchase one. I tell them how much I love it and explain to them how to order one on the Internet. Lanny B
Hip Replacement and Knee Issues
Our involvement with Trikke began in July 2009. Seeing how they work I recognized the potential that they could restore exercise that had become extremely limited for me. We set out on a quest to check them out for ourselves but found that the Trikke... was the exercise solution I needed.
At that time I had had one surgery on my right hip and was told that it was simply a matter of time until the hip would need to be totally replaced. The doctors were also advising that my right knee was well beyond the stage where it should have been replaced, but other medical conditions were delaying the time when I could have these procedures done. My right leg had lost so much range and function that I could not use walking, recumbent biking, or most other forms of exercise to maintain my fitness level.
Trikke gave me back what I had lost. On a Trikke carving vehicle I could engage my entire body in exercise without irritating the joints in my leg. It was easy enough to accommodate my restrictions and allow me to move and build strength while having all the variability I needed to increase my workout steadily as my fitness level improved. This same vehicle I was using to regain basic fitness my husband was using to maintain and improve his already superior fitness level.
Empirical observations are nice, but the real proof for me came this week. Everything was finally in place, and on Wednesday, May 4, 2011 I had a total hip replacement. I benefited from advances in technology that make it an easier procedure than it was a few years ago, but the results were way beyond my expectations or those of my caregivers.
A few hours after surgery a doctor came into my room and inquired sheepishly if I was Mrs. Lynch and if I had had my right hip replaced that morning. It seems I was already lying in a position that most patients cannot achieve until weeks after surgery. Throughout the three day stay in the hospital a variety of health care professionals came in, commented on my range of motion, strength, flexibility and ability to care for myself and said they had heard about it from others on the floor. They were very interested in what I had used to stay in shape up until surgery with a hip and knee that they believed would have had me wheel chair bound. In the hospital I had one dose of narcotics following surgery and used Tylenol for the rest of my pain relief.
At my two-week follow-up appointment the doctor entered the exam room saying, "You're making my other clients jealous." It seems that, like them, I was expected to still be using a walker. Instead, I was free of walker and cane and dancing to the music in the waiting room. When she offered me a refill on narcotics I simply responded, "I never took any from the first prescription."
I credit my Trikke carving vehicle with making this a relatively pain-free and easy experience with fast recovery. Beth Lynch, Manassas, Virginia
Seen on 60 Minutes Jimmy Carter and wife Rosalynn enjoy their Trikke carving vehicles. They enjoy getting exercise from ankles to shoulders, and the skiing like sensation of carving.
Xocai Dec 26, 2010 This T67 is a BREEZE. She was riding it right out of the box. It is fun, she hardly ever has her two wheel bike out now. Brakes work great, turning radius is good, stays balanced and can propel from a dead stop without a problem. Added bonus is it gets her outside and away from video games!
Winston Salem, NC June 5, 2011 My good knee started giving me problems so I thought the Trikke would be a good alternative to hiking and running. I put 45 miles on the Trikke the week it arrived. It provides a great workout and my wife liked it so much that we have another one ordered. As with anything it takes practice especially going up small hills.
Pros
Great low impact workout, built well, folds up for transporting, fun and different
Cons
This is minor but on the T78 the folding mechanism can be a bit difficult to engage
Difficult to learn, but fun once you do
Carrollton, TX April 24, 2011 I purchased this for my wife's Xmas present (at her request). She wanted something she could use for exercise while she walked our large dog. She had been using her bicycle, but the dog tends to run away (sideways), making the bicycle tip dangerously to the side. My wife was worried that she might fall over unexpectedly and break a hip (we're in our sixties). This solves that problem, since her feet are right there at ground level. It's not impossible to fall, but you'd really have to work at it to injure yourself.
I snapped it together without resorting to reading the instructions, and although our research had impressed us with how hard it was to learn the correct motion, she was able to use it on level ground fairly quickly. [Other reviewers have compared it to snow skis, but I thought it was more like rollerblading.] Unfortunately, going uphill was MUCH more difficult and she quickly became frustrated.
Over all it is great exercise (she says she's sore in places she didn't know she had), but adults may find the learning curve so frustrating that they quit before it becomes fun.
My wife loves it!
Tom from Miami April 23, 2011 I purchased this Trikke for my wife's birthday. She loves to snow ski and this scooter movement uses a lot of the same motion. We live in a condo so the folding feature is really good. She is using the Trikke to help her with low impact exercise. She rides it mostly on the tennis courts surfaces at the condo but we really want to upgrade to the rear air tires as the ride is very bumpy on the blacktop parking lot. Overall momma is very happy so a happy momma means happy family. :)

Great product
April 21, 2011 I got this for my 13 year old son's Birthday. He absolutely loves it. It is a great workout and a lot of fun. It also carries my 250 lb frame easily. Great product! Shipped to us very quickly also.
Great workout!
NY, USA April 19, 2011 I am a 59 year old female overweight couch potato who is on a serious diet. After watching people riding it on Youtube, it took me three days to master the movements. On day four I already used it for 30 minutes. I did not have any sore muscles after that workout. It is so much fun to use. The Trikke was easy to assemble, just attach the front wheel and the handlebars. If you want to do exercise that is fun, go for it.
trikke
bulldog February 3, 2011 this is one awesome workout machine. i highly recommend this trikke to anyone and everyone looking to get in shape and wants to have fun getting there.its worth every cent!!!!!it takes a couple of tries to get the hang of it,but when you get it, you are off to where ever the trikke can take you.again this is awesome.
Love it!
jemizasi November 15, 2010 I've been using my trikke consistently for several months now and absolutely love it. I would recommend this to everyone. I do between 12 to 22 miles at a time several times a week and look forward to it each time. I have MS and am not able to run, walk, or bike for very long due to muscle weakness, but this is perfect. Once you've mastered the ability to use this, you can experiment with shifting your weight slightly and you use different muscles, this really is a full body workout!!!
Bonnie July 22, 2011 The trikke is perfect for exercising. It does take some time to learn how to ride and that can be frustrating. Just hang on as I am and one day soon I will be riding like an expert
A GREAT workout, and GREAT fun!
Austin, TX December 26, 2010 Santa brought 2 of these for my kids, 12 and 10, and they could not wait to get outside to give them a try. I insisted that they watch the instructional video first......critical as the 'power stroke' is unusual. They are incredibly well made! Once riding, they both had a little trouble combining the turn, tilt, and leg push together to make them go. We made a couple of trips back inside to watch the video again, and it started to click! My son, who usually picks these things very quickly was a little frustrated so he wanted me to give it a try......to show me just how hard it really is. I am 6'4", 210lbs but a good athlete.....basketball, skiing, motorcycling, etc. Anyway, I jumped on and in less than 5mins found myself in the 'sweet spot' as he says in the video! I could not maintain that 'sweet spot' for more than 10-15 turns, but it was LOTs of fun and I could easily see where I could get very into riding one too. The motion is like motorcycling + skiing + skating......I just loved it! I workout daily, and this looks like a GREAT option for a whole body workout. We live in an area with lots of small rolling hills and though I am not ready to tackle them just yet I really like the upper body exercise potential of the Trikke. I will be ordering one for myself!
If you are patient, and able to combine the 3 parts of the power-stroke, anyone can do this.......it is not a matter of strength, but certainly does require a precise 'coordination' that when put together provides an awesome feeling unlike any other.
Year round fun in Florida
Lynne K. Boykin December 5, 2010 Love my Trikke. It's in the garage ready to go when I am and much easier to throw in the car than a bike. Personally I think it's more fun. I skipped the poly wheels and ordered all air. Buy a little push air pump so you're ready when it arrives as tires need air. I happen to live where there are a few hills which is great fun. I look at walking it back up the hills as great exercise too. If you are a "closet case" grocery cart rider which I still am at 64! you'll love this.
never to old to learn
brechal July 2, 2010 The trikke is a really neat piece of equipment but I am an oldie so it has taken me a little longer to master and I live where there is very little level ground, so it is a bit harder to learn to ride, but I have found that sweet spot they describe and it is thrilling when that happens. I would encourage all to try the trikke, it is a great workout. I am glad I bought it and I will get better.
Fun, fun, fun!
Honolulu, HI February 1, 2010 With free shipping, this is the best deal I've seen. Easy to assemble and their tech service is great. Took about a week to really get used to it. Now I'm having a lot of fun. Got tired or funning and walking so this is a great exercise gadget. Makes me feel like going out to Trikke often. Don't know if you'll loose weight that quickly but I feel my upper body has firmed up quite a bit. Almost 40 and enjoying life with my Trikke!
Dlarck May 19, 2011 I am 100% satisfied with my purchase. It is quality made and everywhere that I go people are always asking me about it. It comes nearly assembled, but all of the tools you need to complete the set up are included. There are not a million little parts that come with it so it is quite simple to have it out of the box and ridable in about 15 minutes. It is a great workout and it really fun once you get the hang of it. The customer support from Trikke is incredible. After several months of having my T8 my brother sat on and broke the rear fender and when i called them they rushed me another one. It is clear that they wanted me to be satisfied, and I am. I would recommend this product to anybody.
Trikke... Too much fun to be exercise!!!
Charlotte, NC February 10, 2011 I have been looking for a low impact way to exercise. I am not a lover of riding a bike as it ends up hurting my back and neck from bending for so long, and I am scared of my knees getting shot from jogging. While looking on the web for different human powered vehicles (eg. recumbent bike) I ran into a video of this Trikke and at first it looked like just a big scooter, but then I noticed they never touched the ground. It was fascinating, so I did more research. It certainly has a strong following, as almost everyone that buys it loves it and uses it A LOT.
When it arrived I opened the box and have to be honest, was not expecting the quality of both product and packaging I found. Fantastic. Easy assembly, filled up the tires and I was off. Its not a natural motion and takes a lot of getting used to, but you literally become addicted to the feeling you get when it all goes right. I can see myself using this as my main exercise outlet. Its an entire body workout and I was huffing just going down my street.
I would recommend this to anyone with an ounce of coordination that wants a fun way to get in (or stay in) shape. It really is too much fun to even notice you are exercising. Go to the website which is www trike dot com and check out the videos etc. Have fun.
Trikke
CLARKSTON, WA January 18, 2011 I purchased this as a gift for my husband. His opinion is still unsure. We are quite a bit older than your average Trikke rider and it's hard to get the hang of. You basically have to move your body in the opposite movement that your mind/body think it needs to move! And that makes it hard at an older age to overcome! The product itself is very well made and good quality. We would recommend for anyone under 30, hands down! Over 30....try one out somewhere before your purchase. Ours has become a great conversation piece without much use!
Trikke - Great as a gift!
Neiman Girl July 23, 2010 The Trikke was delivered within 2 days and the box was in perfect condition for presenting as a gift! My husband loves it. The assmebly was a bit confusing because we had never had a Trikke before and wanted to make sure it was assembled correctly. We didn't find the illustrations in the instruction manual helpful. Luckily, the largest Trikke dealer in the midwest has a shop 1 mile from our home and I never even new it. Anyways, he assisted in making sure it was assembled properly and also gives instruction to new riders. I think I will get myself a Trikke!
AWESOME, FUN , GO TRIKKING !!!
New York , NY April 25, 2010 Ok, first I looked at the Trikke cause no matter how hard i went at the gym I could not seem to get rid of the excess weight around the middle. So I decided to give this a shot and I have to say it is the best workout that I can imagine and fun at the same time. I have had my Trikke for about a month and now that i got the hang of it i go out riding for bout 2 to 3 hrs every other day or so depending on the weather, as it is not recomended to ride it in wet conditions as it is very slippery. I have lost about 2 inches from my midsection in that short amount of time and my cardio workout is awesome. It will work out your upper and lower extremities and strenghten your core , and you will have sooo much fun doin so. I rather do this than be stuck in a gym waiting in line for the next piece of equipment to use. Now that I'm burning off that unwanted fat around my mid-section , my ab work will begin to show the results that i used to have many yrs ago..... GO TRIKKING , HAVE FUN AND GET FIT !!!
Trikke T8 Air
New Orleans , LA April 23, 2010 Great purchase......give it a few days and you will get it. Watch a few instructional videos on youtube and you'll be off and trikking. Uphill trikking must be for only "a few good men". Much better for the hips and knees than running and more fun than being on an eliptical. My best purchase of the year!
Denver, CO October 5, 2011 Trikking is by far the most fun form of aerobic exercise I have discovered. The movement is smooth and gentle, even though it takes some solid pushing to get up hills. It is downright whimsical. Trikking makes me smile and usually makes others smile too, unless they're trying to pass you on a narrow bike path.
Warning: I've tried to convert many people to become trikkers. Most remain unconverted. It takes some persistence to get good enough to even go up slight inclines. Many people give up too soon. This is probably not a great impulse purchase. Be sure that you're excited enough to practice for the weeks or months to get good at it. I kept learning better techniques even in my second year of trikking. And when I rode different models in following years, I learned even more. If you've got a friend with one, try theirs, and get some instruction from them. You might even consider finding a local dealer who can let you try different models, and help you with adjustments and maintenance.
Also, the energy input to forward momentum conversion is fairly indirect, you can't just stand up on the pedals and power forward like you can on a bike. This means you put in twice the effort to go only 2/3 the speed as a bike. But as another reviewer mentioned, since that effort is spread so evenly across different muscle groups in your body, you don't get sore muscles (or a sore butt from a bike seat).
The T12 is solid, high off the ground, and has disc brakes that are almost dangerously effective. It's easy to lurch forward into the handlebars if you brake too hard. Also Important: The handlebars want to pivot 180 degrees from their normal position. It's supposed to be this way. It's part of how you get the pushing effect from the turning, but you have to be careful not to let them turn too sharply or you'll go right over them.
Another reviewer recommended helmet and knee/elbow pads. I have people wear bike gloves when learning to Trikke, because when you take a spill, the speeds are usually low enough that you try to catch yourself with your hands rather than rolling. This leads to scraped palms if you don't wear gloves.
Trikkes are pretty low maintenance. I generally just check adjustments once a year, and tire pressures once a month. It can sometimes be tricky to fold, but if you wiggle its arms while pulling on the release mechanism, you can get it to work.
I have now purchased 4 different models of Trikkes so I can bring other people out Trikking with me. Since I'm a big guy (over 6' & 230 lbs), the T12 is my favorite model. But be warned, it is large and can be hard for newbies to handle. Stick to a T8-Air if you don't need the largest model.
Finally, a few tips on getting started...
Start by practicing standing on the trikke while it's still. Stand on the balls of your feet toward the front of the footpads with your toes pointed out (heels in). This lets you use all your leg muscles (including calves) instead of standing flatfooted and using only quads/thighs. Practice leaning the whole trikke from side-to-side and notice the upright steering tube can lean over pretty far while you're still standing solidly. Once you try "pushing," be sure you're leaning the trikke like this instead of just turning the handlebars. You'll get a much better feel for it this way.
Don't try to make it go from a stand still, take a few good pushes with your foot like a normal scooter to get up enough speed to try the rock-and-roll style pushing. Avoid hills for a while when you're learning. Downhill gives you false confidence. Uphill tends to rapidly drain the small amount of confidence you may have started developing. :)
Good luck. Enjoy dancing in the streets on your own Trikke!
The greatest transpo ever
New York , NY 6/3/2009 I hopped on my trikke in January. A cold winter in nyc. I was immediately addicted. It is not uncommon for me to do 30-40 miles in a day. I just go everywhere and absolutely love it. I crave hills, up AND down. I don't really want everybody to have one! I like being one of few. Go ahead though, buy asap...it is the best thing in the known universe.
I love my t12.
5/31/2009 Great fun great workout and a great conversation starter. Some people that I have let ride it are not crazy about it but generally most other people like it as well. Definetley not an activity for the lazy. I ride mine hard and the only problem I have had is the bolts in the cv joints or bushing area back out if I really ride hard. I just carry an allen wrench with me no big deal. Trikking is great! wish I could figure out how to make a living doing it. Thanks for an awesome machine, Dorsey Lewter
Trikke Master
5/16/2009 The T12 is the Trikke I want when I'm going places. I enjoy exploring new paths and streets. The larger tires and extra weight of the T12 make for a smoother ride in less than ideal terrain. The disc brakes give me the confidnece that I can stop on dime if need be. Also, I can put my whole body into the T12 for maximum workout. The extra weight of the T12 does make going up hill more difficult than a lighter Trikke, however, now a days I'm looking for that extra work out as my Trikke muscles are very developed. I love my T8 but the T12 is the one I ride the most.

having this much fun?
Why Trikke carving vehicles are the ultimate weapon
in the war on obesity
What’s the best way to exercise while trying to lose weight? It’s a problem many of us face. Obesity touches nearly every family and at times, seems like an insurmountable challenge. Naturally, the formula for change includes exercise, but finding the right form of exercise can be an exhausting challenge, in and of itself. Until now.
Meet the 21st century way to get in shape and stay in shape – Trikke three–wheel carving vehicles – the fun, no–impact road to a healthier, happy, lighter, leaner you. Watch a video from Danielle Adams who lost 60 lbs in 6 weeks riding a Trikke CV.
Here’s what you can do on a Trikke cv:
BURN MORE CALORIES
Riding on a Trikke cv can burn more calories per hour than riding a bike, power walking, jogging, inline skating or doing an aerobics class.
MOVE YOUR ENTIRE BODY
Riding a Trikke cv engages your entire body, from head to toe. Your arms and legs are moving, your core is turning, all of which gives you a full-body workout like no other.
ENJOY NO-IMPACT EXERCISE
Riding a Trikke cv involves moving the muscles of your legs, rear, core, arms and shoulders with virtually no stress to your ankles, hips or knees. There’s no pounding or jarring to the joints, making it potentially suitable for ages 5 to 95.
BEAT BOREDOM AND REPETITION
Riding a Trikke cv gives you a freedom of movement that never feels repetitive or boring. Each time you ride, you discover subtleties and nuance because there are so many combinations of propulsion techniques to blend together as you ride. It is the opposite of reps inside a gym, and repetitive calisthenics. It’s just you, the outdoors and the joy and discovery of a new freedom of movement and newfound fitness for life.
BECOME ADDICTED
Warning: Riding a Trikke cv has been known to turn into an addictive form of exercise one enjoys with passion, in addition to serving as a great weight loss tool that renders individuals much healthier and happier.
