Light Patrol Vehicles

At just 38 lbs, the Trikke Tribred is the only professional level patrol vehicle that can be easily folded and transported in the trunk of a police car. The ability of officers to drive to an area, unfold their Trikke Tribreds in seconds, and quickly get to their desired positions further differentiates the product from other solutions. Built on top of the rugged and proven T8Air chassis, the Tribred boasts a lightweight, hot-swappable Lithium Ion power supply. The Tribred can travel 18 MPH on flat ground and offers up to 20 miles of range per charge. The average cost of a full charge is roughly seven cents - fractions of a cent per mile.

Police/Security – Sgt. Pond of Solvang Sherriff’s Dept Q&A

·    Is the Trikke Patrol a sensible addition to a police force? If so, why?

Thought the trikke was much better than a bicycle.  They are quiet, can go places a bike can not and are easy to jump off and leave quickly in an emergency.  I think the Trikke has many uses on a police force, you can be much more observant and more in touch than driving around in a car.  Walking a foot beat is probably the best way to find crime and snoop around in alley ways, etc., but the Trikke lets you do this faster.  For a tourist town like Solvang these are perfect.  There are times when a police car can not move faster than 2 miles per hour when traffic is backed up by a large tourist population, or special event.  For getting around during those times, the Trikke would be great. Also for volunteers working parking enforcement.  The Trikke also puts you up taller and allows you to see over things.

·     Was your testing of the Trikke Patrol unit a positive experience?

The experience was very positive and we were able to sneak up on numerous people.  My squad made arrests of people using drugs, prowling about and even caught up to a car by maneuvering through small alleys.  This is something I would buy for myself if I had the money right now.

·    What feature did you find to be the most beneficial? Speed, portability, maneuverability or stealth.  Why?

All of the above, the Trikkes can fold up and be put in a trunk of a small car.  They are so maneuverable that we were able to ride them inside an elevator of a building, go to the top floor and ride down the hallways.  They are very stealthy and we surprised people committing crimes several times while riding them.

·    If you have done bicycle patrol or ridden a Segway, how does the Trikke Patrol unit compare?

Never rode the Segway, but a Trikke is definitely better than a bike.  Just more portable and easier to get on and off of.  You could chase someone down and jump off immediately to go hands on if you needed to.
